Can someone recommend the best way to treat and re paint the spots off corrosion on my Disco's rear door and wheel arches?

Strangely enough I find a product called Kurrust from Halfords stops it dead and is easy to paint over.

Or you could try sandpapering down the spots and paint over with Hammerite smooth paint

That's what Bruce used on ours.

The cheat's way, which is nonetheless very effective, is to buy the plastic wheel arch trims. They do look quite good, as well as covering up the problem forever. You can get them for about £120.

Didn't know about those. Mine are actually in holes now, so a repair will be necessary, but a perhaps a _neat_ repair won't be so crucial. Do they cover the whole of the internal arch?

Are they a Land Rover part?

There is a Land Rover part, which I think has been discontinued, but was still available from the Land Rover Supermarket in Liverpool a few months back. There are also some third party variations which are somewhat cheaper. IIRC there was a place in Reading which did them, but I can't remember who.

The ones I'm thinking of are mainly for the external part of the wheel arch, ie around the "crimped" area. But they do overlap on the inside for a couple of inches. So it's more a cosmetic thing than anything else.

The end result is something like the plastic wheel arch trims on the Series II Disco. But the front wheel arches have a plastic liner anyway, so I guess it's the rears you're worried about?

David.
