You could go and buy a copy of parkers price guide, I've found it's pretty useless on prices on a lot of cars, but it does list insurance groups and some other stats for lots and lots of makes models and variants of cars. I think it only does the last 10 years though.

I use ukcar.com it doesnt list them buy insurance group but it tells you the group and bhp for most cars of the last 50-60 years.

But you have to pay to use it, and when it used to be free, half of the specs were wrong. Does the Clio V6 still show as FWD?
This is where you want to be for the insurance ratings
Considering most end up flying backwards towards hedges/rivers/people i think thats allowable
