2001 - Transmission slips in Reverse when hot (only)

2001 - Transmission slips in Reverse when hot (only). Two tranny shops had no clue what it might be ("Well, you know, the oil gets hot and thin..."), but it seems that the symptom is so specific that someone ought to know.

It looks like you can change the reverse band servo without dropping the transmission. What does the reverse band servo do?

It could be a few things but the most common problems are the reverse reaction drum breaking GM has released new-design 2nd clutch and reverse reaction drums. Also the case cover blows out because of the dolls pins are to long.

Maybe if its the case cover but by the time you get everything out of the way to get at it you almost have it out anyways.
