Power seats in C900

Some questions about replacing the unpowered seats in my '86 c900 w powered from a later c900:

  1. Do the power seats in the later c900's use a simple 12v lead or do they need to be run through a regulator or something? In other words: If I went to put one in my older c900 w/o power seats, could I just run a fused line off of an unswitched hot power feed?

  1. What amperage fuse would they require?

  2. Would the seat heaters run off the old heater system (on/off), or would I have to rig up the thermostat that the newer c900 used. If I do have to use the thermostat, how would you wire it?

The ones I have in the 92 C900T Ragtop and the ones in the 92 9kT run off 12V. I know because they do not totally work and I took them out and tested the motors with a 12V battery directly.

The rake angle does not work on one because the plastic tubing which houses the cable is broken so the cable does not reach on one side.

The ones in the 9kT are memory and the memory, as well as the rake angle, do not work.

So keep your manual seats in case you need to go back there!

The mounting brackets for the C900 seats varied through the years. The

1985 C900 seats were attached by 4 10mm bolts. One car used 2 hooks and 2 bolts. The 1993 uses four TORX screws. So, before you buy a seat, check how it attaches and see if the hole pattern matches.

On my 86s the driver's seatr has 2 Allens and 2 hook arrangements, the passenger has 2 Allens and 2 nut and bolt. Later-post 88I think-use completely different tracks but the seats themselves might be the same. Any extras make great desk chairs. I'm sitting in one right now. Phil Brown
