Turn Signal indicator sound reduction?

Is there any way to reduce the turn signal indicator clicking volume? This may sound like an odd request but the sound on my 2003 9-5 is quite loud and annoying to riders. Thanks in advance, Mark

The turn signal volume can be reduced by turning up the radio volume. :-)

Actually, it's computer generated... so there might be a Tech-II adjustment the dealer can make.

Ha. It's funny you mention this because my girlfriend complains about the turn signal in my 2004 9-3. One of my friends also said that it was really loud, almost like it was coming through the speakers. The sound doesn't bother me, but now I'm wondering if the acoustics of the car make the clicking sound different for passengers. If you find out anything, let me know, my girlfriend would appreciate it :)

The TECH-2 tool can, unfortunately, nor adjust the volume. The direction indicator KLICKs and the other warning sounds are generated by the SID through a small speaker inside the SID unit.

I will have to test drive a 2004 9-3 to hear the turn signal. It must really be loud to be this noticeable. In my Classic 900 SPG the passengers don't notice the turn signal noise, they notice how good it handles in the turns - too good for most of them :-) I enjoy driving it through an underground parking garage with the Classic exhaust sound echoing off the walls. I certainly don't notice the turn signal noises there :-)

You could pull out the SID then and muffle the speaker - assuming it is accessible. Even some duct tape in the appropriate area would muffle it a bit.

It IS coming through the speakers. And it's speed-dependant - the faster you drive, the louder the sound (to overcome the windnoise). Also, to be louder than the stereo.

Besides that, I think it has a pleasant sound.

I was in the passenger seat of my car for the first time yesterday (let my brother drive) and realized that the sound is definitely coming from the passenger speaker on the dash in addition to wherever it comes from on the driver side. All this time I thought my passengers were crazy, but the clicking really is pretty loud. It's not annoying, but it's kind of weird to if you aren't used to it.

Curiosity: What does it do if you don't have the radio on?

It still "plays" the sound through the speakers. :o)

Cheers!

Just noticed something else today: it seems if you are using On-Star, the turn signal indicator is muted completely. As soon as you disconnect, the clicking starts again.
