Identifying faulty CTS gas pedal systems (?)

Some close family friends of ours own a 2009 Toyota Camry that they bought new about eleven months ago. It's their only vehicle and they are wondering if there's any effective way to distinguish / differentiate a defective CTS Corp.-produced gas pedal from a Denso gas pedal system, which are supposed to be unaffected by the recall?

I mean, are there any ways for non-mechanics to visually inspect and determine whether one's Toyota vehicle has a potentially faulty CTS Corp. unit, such as visible serial/part numbers, structural clues or an alphanumeric code within the VIN?

Thank you very much in advance for any input and/or assistance that you can furnish.

"defective cts pedal" You mean CTS the company making the replacement that made the first ones to Toyota spec and are making the new ones to Spec. I just bet this wont fix it.

The faulty pedal is one of the many problems facing Toyota, but is not considered the cause of the bigger sudden acceleration issue. Sudden acceleration, some suggested, was caused by faulty electronics.

For example:

"Chuck Eaton, a retired industrial engineer in Greer, S.C., said he has experienced a surge in his 2006 Toyota Tacoma three or four times, usually in warmer weather, when he deactivates the cruise control at between 65 and 70 m.p.h., then quickly resets it. But it has never happened in his wife's 2004 Toyota Camry."
