Recently my 2.4 liter 1998 Tacoma (99,000 miles) began idling extremely high with the A/C on. Without the A/C on the idle is about 750-800 rpm's, which I consider normal and comfortable to drive. Now, as the A/C cycles on the rpm's jump to about 1250 rpm's, which makes it a little awkward to drive and is very noticeable, especially with a standard transmission. Before, when the A/C would cycle on, the increase was barely perceptable, maybe 50-100 rpm's at most. This began about two weeks ago after I replaced a leaky radiator, new thermostat, and new coolant. That's probably not related, but probably coincidental. Any ideas on what may be causing the high idle? Thanks for all input.
