1995 C1500 Windshield Wiper Problem

I have a 95 C1500 that has had the windshield wiper circuit board replaced under recall. It worked fine for about 6 months but now will only work on HI or Fast mode. Has anyone had similar problems or does anyone know if GM will stand behind this recall again?

Greetings,

This sounds very much like the dealer installed an identical circuit board instead of the thicker recall board with the new cover. I'd take it back to them again as the same problem has reoccured.

If the module is the failure and it is under 12 months 12000 miles then it would be covered under the part warranty. If out of 12/12 then it would be up to the descretion of the dealership. They may have to discuss it with the AVM.

If as you say, the new Board has only be in there for 6 months, you shouldn't have a problem returning the vehicle for replacement again. Even if you cannot find the bill, they should have you in their records on their computer.

If you are out of replacement warrantee, I'd call GM Customer Service/Relations, and explain the situation to them. If the dealer won't pick up the tab, GM CS might re-imburse you. Mark

Had the same problem with my 95 Chevy twice. I finally traded it for a 98 model. The 98 worked up to 100k miles and would act up (like not turn on) when you needed it most. Don't know where Chevy gets their wiper motor technology from but its not reliable. Doug

We have a 97 Chevy Z71 and we had the same problem. We replaced it and 1 day i was driving it on a nice sunny day and the wipers came on itself and would not turn off. I got to work and cut the truck off and waited and i cut the truck on and then it did not come back on. It happened to me 2 others times too but not since the summer. If it happened again my husband was going to take the part back again.
