Not if you want tranny to last at all. It has a pretty tall OD in it (.7) and it places a lot of strain on the clutches for it when you pull it hard and it was never designed to take full engine torque at highway speed in OD.

I do not care if it is built, that basic tranny design is not designed to pull hard in OD. If you wanted to try to pull hard in OD you should have switched out to a 4L80 (not a 4L80E which is electronic) as it has a deeper OD and is basically a THM400 with OD. I am not knocking a

700R4 but I am knocking trying to pull it for all it is worth in OD. The problem is not the beefed up first three gears, it is the limited sustained torque capacity of tranny in OD. Being that you have a gas engine I am not sure what you think you will gain anyway because it will pull hard better in drive (have more torque avaible at a higher RPM) and it will use less fuel making the same flywheel HP rather than forcing it to make same power at a lower RPM because if you need say 180 HP to go a certain speed with a certain load, you need same HP regardless of gear which means that much more torque on tranny and converter. Sure you can tow in OD but not when you have to crowd it a lot to do so. It is time to downshift and not try to lug it harder still.
