the 100 amp alt. just ain't cutting it anymore....stereo, winch, aux lights, a/c, spot lights, and on and on.
can anyone recommend a good high output alt for a NBS '99 Chevy 1500 Z71
5.3L? it will need to be efficient as i've set the idle low and i have a smaller diameter crankshaft pulley which slows the rotation of the alt. i've put a smaller pulley on it as well but it just can't spit out enough juice.
Get rid of those useless underdrive pulleys and the 100-amp alternator should be just fine. Just out of curiosity, how do you set the idle on a
99' 5.3?Doc
