2005 Chevy Silverado 3500, Diesel, Auto, Regular cab, 4x4, Single rear wheel - 15,400lb Trailer Weight/22,000lb GCWR

2005 Ford Super-Duty F-350, Diesel, Auto, Regular Cab, 4x4, Single rear wheel - 12,000lb Trailer Weight/no listing for GCWR

These numbers are taken straight from the official web sites for each!

FYI...Ford trucks outsell Chevy OR GMC...but aren't Chevy and GMC the same company just slightly different bodies? Well isn't that interesting? F-150 and Super Duty are two different trucks...should they be separated?

Ford uses that outselling crap all the time. They won't tell the fact that those numbers are based on a lie. Look at Fords truck line, notice anything? They are ALL listed as F-Series. From the older F-100/150 - F-800/9000 heavy OTR trucks.

Those were all added in to the sales figures. They then compare those numbers to ONLY Chevy, Not all GM light and heavy trucks. When you add up Chevy and GMC and add in the rest of the trucks that are in the same category that Ford has the F-Series in GM outsells Ford 2-1

I just looked in to those numbers a while back. Your numbers are correct for pulling a trailer from a trailer hitch (I show 12,500). For pulling a 5th wheel or Goose Neck the numbers increase to 17,000 pounds with SRW. It drops to 16,700 with DRW.

Please remember that some of those rating are that just ratings or guide lines and some are inflaced for marketing. What you tow whether it is low profile of high wind drag has effect on it too as a flat bed trailer with w weight of 14 k will tow easier than a big tall box camper that is 10 to 12k. Also the type of terrain you tow in (flat or hilly) effect it to because what you can tow in the flats vs the hills and mountains is a different story and Detriot ratings do not factor any of this into ratings. Engine size and axle ratio play a far bigger factor in real world tow performance than a "rated" figure.

Agreed. The rest of the Dodge will be falling around the engine. What a pity.

Yes, what good is a engine without a good truck to put it in? The engine may live but the rest of the truck may go to the dogs leaving the engine nothing to work with.
