Error code 43 - 1990 TBI 350 - can't figure out.

I have read many posts about this problem and have tried all. Myknock sensor wire is routed away from exaust and in good condition.Timing is currently at 6 deg. BTC. have tried 0 - 12 deg. Replacedknock sensor and ESC module with new parts. Ways I produce the code43. Start engine and bring to 2500 rpm, engine starts surging between1800 and 2500 and then light comes on. This happens when it is coldor hot. Once I start driving light will go away and then back onagain intermitaly. It seems to go off when I am on the gas hard andback on when cruising. I am using the painless performance wiringharness 61010. Since I have a manual NV4500 I had to twist 2 wirestogether to override the neutral saftey switch, they said that mightbe a problem if the computer limited Rpm in park but i have notexperienceD that. The engine has been recently rebuilt and iscompletly stock. I did put headers on it. When I disconect the wireto adjust the timing I am at 6 deg. If I have the light on it and revthe engine the timing jumps to about 15 deg. BTC when I rev engine to2000 rpm with the wire still disconnected. Any ideas would be greatlyappriciated. Tests to rule out individual componets would behelpfull.Thanks,Jacob

All right!!!!!, I am so friggen happy!!!!! It is fixed. I had a painless wiring harness that instructed me to hook the ECM power wire to the ignition or the wire that supplied the coil with power. I choose the later which turned out to be the whole problem. I just hooked it up directly to the ignition and the engine now screams without any code 43's. Thanks to all who helped I really appriciate it. The 1990 GM 350 TBI into a 1986 Jeep CJ7 engine swap is complete!

Good on ya mate. Now your no longer driving a heep. I bet the drivetrain is completely chevy/ford too. I'd love to see a competitive heep running heep hardware... lol.... Good to see you fixed it.
