GM 350 - Water in #4

1990 GMC K-1500 Sierra XC, 350 / automatic

Getting a little water in the number four cylinder... just wondering if this is a common problem and if so is it usually the head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block?

Also wondered if there were water passages blocked by the intake? If so, could a blown intake gasket be letting water get in on one side? Long shot, but think I had that happen on an old Mustang.

No, not a common problem at all. Most likely a shot head gasket as cracked heads and blocks are rare with a 350. Has the truck been overheated recently?

The intake does have blocked water passages behind #7 and #8 cylinders................the "real" water passages are in front of #1 and #2. So, no water passages anywhere near #4! If you look at the runners, you'll see that on that side of the engine #4 and #6 are right beside one another and quite a way from #2 and #8.

Sounds like it's time to pop that head off and check the ol' gasket out.
