Michael, Was one of the filters orange in colour? There have been reports in audifans.com about filter element implosion in some orange filters - resulting in major engine damage. Apparently, although the crossref. chart at the FLAPS (friendly local autoparts store) says that they work for the 10v/20v engines, they actually cannot handle the high oil flow rate and the paper element implodes as a result, often with paper bits travelling into the oil passageways in the engine. Hopefully you were only using Mann/Bosch filters from the dealer, right? Cheers! Steve Sears

1987 Audi 5kTQ - has a FRAM quick oil drain plug - it has an orange tube...how odd. Bosch/Mann filters always. 1980 Audi 5k - bosch filters always
