They lie.

This one is closer to the truth:

Yeah, with the right chip (not the chip you're talking about), it will be as much powerful as a 3.0 liter. But that chip isn't cheap ! Worth to look for it on Internet and find a good mechanics to replace it. Did you ask your dealer before buying _this_ chip ? Good luck

You mean you buy the standard chip together with the 3 l car in which it is fitted?

So you can chip a normally aspirated 1.6 to the power of a 3 litre?

Do tell how.

Sure, I know this chip exist. A wonderful way to get 231 HP from an 1.6i The problem is that it seems not to be legal. Probably the reason why it's hard to find and very expensive vs. the standard chip. Some googling would help. Pffieeewww ! 231 HP, not worth to give a try ?

Even if it only raised the output by 25% (to equivalent of 2 litres), it would be at the expense of burnt valves and pistons, overstressed components etc. etc.

The OP has already been told not to waste his money, and the sort of legal difficulties (void warranty, insurance etc.) he is likely to get into if he modifies his employers car.

Sure. Some 144 bhp/ltr. Perhaps you need to pass this on to BMW for their M series cars? Because it's far higher than any production car engine without forced induction. Because - again - you'd need to rev it to about 15,000 rpm. Basically, bollocks.

Bollocks ???? I forgot to tell that white sticker bands had to be put on the bonnet and blue lights intergrated in the windscreen washers nozzles.

that makes the most sense. think ill leave it as is. so the end result is the plug and play chips on ebay that claim to give

20bhp more are a waste of time then?

You've not really read the thread, have you? ;-)

For those who do not know yet, adding the blue lights alone will add 15bhp. Or so they tell me :)
