BMW coolant question

Jul 11, 2005 2 Replies

What is in the BMW coolant? Can it be mixed with regular ethyl glycol, like Prestone or some generic brand? What if you are on the road and need coolant?

Thanks

Water. If it needs topping up regularly, find the leak and change the entire coolant.

No, don't mix BMW coolant with anything but water. In the US, BMW coolant is basically Zerex G48. For best results, you should flush your cooling system, including draining the block, every 2 years and use only BMW coolant.
