Rephrasing question...During idle speed my fuel injection has a ticking sound and the fuel pulses with that ticking. Is this normal? When I rev the engine up it stops. Also I need to know has anyone had backfire problems with the 4.3?. And NO it is not out of time and it has been tuned up within the last 3 months. It acted like the engine stopped for just a second then started again while I was driving. It backfired hard enough to blow my muffler apart.
Injectors 'ticking' at idle is normal.
Backfiring with a TBI engine is not. If there is a leak in the exhaust between the manifolds and the muffler, backfiring can occur. Check the manifold to pipe seals. If you have an air injected cat-converter, have the air pump system checked. It might be 'over pumping'.
