95 CHEV 1/2 TON Troubles

A friend has a 95 chev 1/2 ton with a 350/V8. Over the last year he has had a problem with having to replace the rotor button and distributor cap quite frequently. You would be out driving somewhere and the truck was working fine, if you shut the truck down and went to do something, when you come back out to go, it dosen't start. After this happens you have to take the rotor button out and either clean it or if its really bad replace it, the top of the distributor cap is burnt along with the rotor button. Have been to the dealers several times about this problem and one time they say its a bad button so you replace it and you may get two or three weeks of trouble free operation or only two or three days and then its back again. One dealer said it was a bad distributor so he replaced the distributor and still has the same problem. The coil has been changed once but the rotor and cap have now been changed several times now and it aint getting any better. Has anyone seen this problem or something similar. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated
