My 2001 Astro van does not have brake lights, the top led brake light works, but the others do not. The turn signals/parking lights work, no brake lights. Where should I start looking? Could this be at the switch or is it more likely a wiring problem after the led brake light, but before the main brake lights?

You don't say if 4way hazards are OK or not. Probably are OK. If so, problem is in between brake switch and hazard/turn signal switch, which is a white wire. The brake switch feeds a white wire which has a splice that feeds the himount directly, and the regular lites via the haz/turn switch. Could also be the haz/turn sw itself if the feed to it is OK.
