Hank, from a professional stand point, it would only be convenient for tire changing.

Though I'm sure it has its endorsers, you can vertually accomplish the same thing with a sturdy hydraulic floor jack and a set of really nice jackstands. (which wouldn't take up your garage area)

You can get 2-post lifts for under $2,500 installed, but you tend to need a 6 inch slab to take the load. I had one installed for $1300 about a year ago. You can even arange payment plans on them. I would suggest looking at where you're wanting to put the thing at, what you're going to be needing it for, and consider pricing a slab for a two-post lift. If you've ever had to actually "flat back" under a vehical, you know the advantages of NOT HAVING to do it. The overall repair time is decreased, the aggrevation, level is greatly deminished, the body twists and maneuvers are no where what's needed in a creeper situation. Even if you're just considering the purchase for your home, I highly consider exploring the options of some of the other types of lifts that are available to you. You can most likely get a slab poured, lift installed, and a roof over it for under 3 grand.

any whoooo..........

my opinion would be that in the long run you would be much more content with the expenditure if you just bit the bullet and went with a lift situation that would allow you to do brake jobs and oil changes without the hassel of oil down your armpits and the back aches with all the crawling from under the vehical.

let us know what you decide and how you like it.

hopefully helpfull Scrib Abell ~~pulled a stint flat-backing trannies once..... enlightening and a life's experience.......but a year of it wuz enouf foe shoa~~

I have a Eagle 4 post lift. Very handy for working under the car. And, I can raise one car and park another under it, or roll the lift and car around.
