As you may be aware of the Clean Air Act of 1990 forced R12 Dichlorodi-floromethane Refrigerants off the market due to the Ozone Depleting properties, as well as having a very high GWP (Global Warming Potential). Dupont Corporation then created R134a Hydroflorocarbon Refrigerant as a substitute replacement. The problem with Dupont R134a was that it was still destroying the Ozone Layer and had a high GWP (Global Warming Potential). So the quick fix for R12 was a product that was still dangerous to the environment, but the Environmental Protection Agency let it slide by the High Standards they set, because the demand for air conditioning was high by the consumer market. Therefore as you can see that REDTEK 12A Hydrocarbon Refrigerants stand alone compared to R12 and R134a Refrigerants. Having a lower Boiling Point means that the refrigerant will produce a 10 to 15 colder temperature because it operates at a Lower Head Pressure than the rest.
Don't be Fooled by Imitation R134a and 12A Products
Illegal R-12 is also being blended with R134a and other 12a Hydrocarbon based refrigerants and shipped to markets all over the world in 30-pound cylinders with counterfeit labels. R12 and R134a are not compatible with one another, and cause your vehicle to have cooling temperature problems. 12A Hydrocarbon Refrigerants mixed with R12 or R134a also create poor cooling performance. One of the more common counterfeit labels is that of Allied Signal (now Honeywell) Genetron 134a. The EIA report states that counterfeit cylinders of well-known brands are now increasingly appearing on the market and in seizures made by authorities in many developing countries. Frequently they are smuggled in counterfeit cylinders labeled as R-134a.These counterfeit cylinders also have been smuggled into Germany, Israel, South Africa and other non-CFC producing nations. Illegal R-12 was packaged in 12-ounce cans labeled as air-conditioner oil and shipped to Japan Counterfeit R-134a has made its way into the United States. It's been found in 12-ounce cans and 30-pound cylinders, and in vehicles and recycle/recovery equipment. Some has entered the country in
30-pound cylinders, but some of it left China in bulk and was packaged elsewhere in cylinders and 12-ounce cans without being tested for quality or purity.. Therefore there are a lot of Bad products on the market that claim that they are R134a and 12A Refrigerants. Don't fooled by the imitations on the market.
