Have a friend who has a Quadrajet on a 350 in his truck. Not sure about year/make but definitely a Chevy truck. Somebody swapped motors, and then lost interest, so he got a deal.
He needs to know which vacuum source is best to get the carb to work right.

He wants to know which is the best source of vacuum to make the secondaries work correctly. I figure off the manifold, but it could be off the carb. Truthfully, I have no idea.

The secondaries on a rochester Quadrajet do not operate by vacuum. The secondary throttle plates are mechanically opened, there is a choke lock-out that prevents secondary operation until the choke is near full open. Airflow thru the secondaries is controlled by an air valve at the top of the carb, above the secondaries, its rate of opening is controled by an adjustable spring.
The best way to make them work correctly is to set everything to factory specifications.
