I have a 2003 Chevy Express All Wheel Drive. The owner's manual, which is common with the rear wheel drive, suggests cleaning and repacking the front wheel bearings at 30,000 miles. Is this just for the rear wheel drive, or is it something that should be done for the front wheel drive also?

The front bearings are non serviceable on the AWD Express. If they go bad you replace the hub and bearings together just like most FWD and 4WD vehicles now.
