I just bought a 98 chevy 2500 cheyenne diesel and just recently I noticed that it repeatedly "lunges" if I try to keep the speed between 50 and 55. (It feels like I am tapping on the gas and letting off over and over again). It doesn?t do it if I accelerate or if I let of the gas pedal completely- only when I am barely touching the gas and trying to keep a constant speed. Everything else seems fine- no noises, no changes in rpm......The truck only has 64K miles. I never noticed this before, but it seems to be getting worse relatively quickly. ANY ADVICE PLEASE

Had exactly this problem with my 1995 Chevy with the 6.5L turbo diesel. Believe it or not, it was a bad EGR valve on the top of the motor. When you get the new valve, make sure it is the one for the turbo diesel and not for the normally aspirated diesel (the part numbers will be different). Also, check for leaking vacuum lines. New valve runs about $50.00 and takes only two bolts and one vacuum line to replace. Total time less than 15 minutes.
