i have a chevy 1500 5 speed 4.3 liter v6. i want to put in an 87 305. not sure what it came out of but is in good shape..........i need to know what exactly i would need to do to make the swap clean and easy.........will my transmission bolt up and will the engine mounts match up? i appreciate any suggestions as to what to do :)

What year to what year? You said engine was a 87 you thought but nothing about truck. The bellhousinfg is the same but if you are looking for a look of power in this swap, this is not going to do it because a 87 305 TBI engine is pretty tame and low speed torque wise about the same as your current V6. If you are swapping for power, use a 350, not a 305. If your 4.3 is in good shape I would not bother for the little you would gain in this swap. The 4.3 is a 350 minus two cylinders so it does respond well to warming it up.
