Where is Body Control Module ??

Oct 01, 2004 10 Replies

I have a '02 Silverado 2500HD that has lived most of it's two years in the dealers shop for repair, the last time it was there (on and off for last three weeks) it was because the chimes kept going off and doors wouldn't lock, first they looked at it, with no real answer, then they replaced the ignition switch, in doing so they tore shifter boot and broke tabs off fascia around steering column, then they replaced the body control module (BCM), now the chimes and door locks work but have no dome light with door open or switch on, and no the dome override isn't on as dealer said right away, lamp is good, fuse is good, got to be something else this very poor service department did (

). Wonderingwhere the BCM is located so I can look at it myself, bound to be a connectorleft loose or something they broke or forgot to do, have appointment forOct. 4th, but hate to take it back again, lord knows what will be wrong orbroken then !!!

You need to find a better dealer. Sounds like the ones you have are idiots..

I want to say it's under the passenger from seat, but I can't say for sure....

Hey Marsh, how did things go for you with the storms? Is all well down there?

For me personally, I wuz lucky....lost most my shingles, all my privacy fencing, three 40 ft. pine trees, and a very minor hole in the roof that's now covered with tarp.

My family is well, my lights came on after

10 days, my phone came back on after 2 days, my cable was hooked back up yesterday.

I wuz lucky. others were not.......

thanks for asking Brian, ~:~ marsh Pensacola Fl =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

It's not behind the radio, found it under the steering column, never getting the output to the courtesy lamp relay, even though getting inputs from door jam switches and manual switch at dimmer, so either programming is wrong or output channel is bad for courtesy lamp relay output. Brian were being a smartass, your laughing outload sounded so stupid I couldn't tell for sure.

Sound like something got screwed in BCM programming if you are not getting the output (should be gray w/black from BCM to courtesy relay), I've seen it happen to Chebby's when that stupid inadvertent power relay has a problem, but this isn't your problem, I'd give up and buy a Dodge !!!

Glad you didn't get hit to badly. I figured you may be close to the damage as you hadn't been on.

Thanks Brian, And yep, it was close. It came onshore about

40 miles west of me, giving us the full brunt of the eastern wall winds.

Had the radio on all night, running outside with my Mag Light to see which way the trees were gonna fall in case I had to move the family to another area of the house. Next door neighbor got a 30 foot pine tree through his roof. The brick walls kept it from going all the way to the floor. Same story on every street here. 5,6,7 houses in a two or three block area with trees down through the roof all over town. They are now saying that roughly 15,000 houses will not have electric turned back on untill repairs are made.

I have a sort of small "bricked walled" courtyard leading to my front door that actually protected the front area of the house by acting as a wind break, for most of the night. Like I said, I was out there for most of it with my handy dandy Mag Light. The winds picked up bad about 1:30 am. The winds started to worry me around 2 am. I came running inside at 2:30 am hustling everyone into the hallway. The scariest part lasted for about

30 minutes during which the entire house was "vibrating" and my ears were popping. We have come to learn that several tornadoes were formed around town during the time the eye came ashore.

Pensacola Beach is now basically a strip of sand about 1000 feet wide running between the Gulf and the Bay. Perdido Key has been perty much wiped out. The two, two lane, I-10 bridges that run the 3 miles or so across the bay were hit with over 50 foot waves and wiped out several sections on the west and eastbound sides. So....the interstate's closed for awhile.

so...i guess i was kinda close to it.

any whooo.... Don't know what i missed most, hot showers.....or the NG's.

(shivers....ooohhh....sorry guys, I like hot showers more)

thanks again for the concern Brian, ~:~ Marsh Pensacola FL ~has officially sworn off the shroom juice..... at least during a hurricane~

And somwhere out there, there is a moron who thought it would just be soooooo much better if we computerized every single function of a damn vehicle...
