Hey all heres a goofy one for ya's. I have a 1991 S-10 Blazer 4.3 auto 4x4. It rattles like there is a monkey under the hood with a hammer when you accelerate ONLY when the engine is cold. Once it warms up the engine is quiet. If the engine is at idle and cold it does not rattle. . I ran the codes and it came back that the TPS is either to high of volts or too low ( cant remember and too cold out side to test it again) would the tps cause this Thanks Steve

Hi Steve, The Throttle position sensor will not likely cause a rattle, but if it is it may be sending a message to your computer and not enriching enough when cold. A lean mixture will cause pinging. If you have one it is possible that your distrubutor advance may be frozen or stuck or advancing way to much. Check your timing when you rev up the engine. It should start advancing around 1200 rpm. Your total advance is probably around 36 degrees before TDC @ 1500 plus rpm. If it's advancing too far this will cause a severe pining. If you do not have a mechanical advance the only thing I can think of is a tune up. You may have a miss when the engine is under load when cold. Check your plug wires for the correct resistance. I believe it's 1K per foot. Check your repair manual for reference. The only difference between hot and cold is the enrichment system. The plugs may not be firing because they are getting drenched or running too lean by the enrichment system. My best guess is a tune up...
