A local mechanic say the labor for this job would be 6 hours according to the "book". What "book" is that and how to I verify the number?

You would have to ask the local mechanic what book he used, there are several labor manuals by different companies. And they vary with labor and parts prices. If you mean how do you verify the labor number......simply ask to see the book he uses.

Okay, it is done. $624 parts and labor. Thanks for your responses in this NG which were very helpful.
