My Stratus ES has developed what I am 99% sure is a bad CV joint so I am looking at replacing the axles. The cheapest quote I have so far is $401 for changing both (call me paranoid). I'd rather not pay that much since the axles are fairly cheap. How difficult are they to swap out? From what I read in my manual it sounds fairly easy.

Did you ever get that stalling problem solved?
Anyway, with ABS you have to have a scan tool in order to bleed the system should that become necessary. Other than that, the procedure should be simliar to a non-ABS system.

If you mean my tranmission limp, heck no. It still goes into limp if I drive it in D so I have been babying. The shop has tried for 2 months to find a 95 or 96 tranny to rebuild for me and no luck. I am taking it back in on the 10th because I will be off work for a bit and they are going to rebuild the current tranny for a 3rd time and try to diagnose the limp again.
Didnt think I'd have to bleed the brakes? Oh well I'll give it a shot. Hopefully there arent any gotchas.

If you are having the trans removed on the 10th why not just give them the axles to install? They have to be taken out to remove the trans!!

Unfortunately Glenn I need to drive it to work the next 2 weeks because its the only car avalible to me and judging by the amount of noise I just cant risk it any longer.
The trans shop would probably fuss even though it shouldnt make a lick of difference, since this is their 3rd rebuild of the trans for the price of the inital.
Read this first Make sure they use the proper fluid NOT a generic fit all with an additive
