Crappy lettering on Dodge CV and GCV

Yes I am nit picking, but I've had it.

The freaking clear coat on the lettering for my 2003 DGV is peeling off. Every single DC or DGC I've seen with the new 2001 styling has the exact same problem (even my co-worker's new 2005 after 2 months being on the road). Local dealer service manager says "Oh ya, that's common for all new DCs."

Makes you wonder what else Chrysler can't do right if they can't even figuer out a way to make the clear coat on the lettering of their Caravans not peel off, especialy with a problem that has been 4 year in the open.

Anyone else have the same experience and is there a better solution then simply changing them out under warranty?

Funny, none of the ones i've seen are peeling!

Humm!

Maybe in your area? I am in phoenix, and have an 03, mine is not peeiling. And this is an area that gets 110 degrees! And every vehicle including lexus and mercedes at this temperature has paint delamination. But there is no peeiling emblems. Mine look fine.

I would think the problem is environmental. And if so Chrysler does not have to do anything. The dealer could change it under warranty, as it is peeling. However if the rep wanted to he could just have the dealer charged back for the repair.

How do you wash the van? Using a mild soap made for washing cars? Or using dishsoap which strips protective fineshes off of the car?

Or do you use a Car wash, that hasn't changed their scrubbers in 5 years? Do you use the coin operated car wash with the scrub brushes, and wash the vehicle?

And do you live in an industrial town, pumping out fall-out chemicals?

I had exactly the same problem with my 2000 Concorde. Lucky for me, it was still under warranty and the dealer replaced all the badges (every one of them was peeling apart). As I recall, it started right after I used some type of cleaner/wax-stuff, which I think was Meguiar's Mirror Glaze, but I'm not positive ...it was a while ago now. I do know it was a Meguiar's product. Also, it's possible the chemical had nothing to do with the problem, but the badges all fell apart all at once, and within days of the chemical application.

2002 GCV, same thing...

I peeled them off, used clear nail polish to top coat them....

Yeah? Well, the light marks showing up on the 2001 PT bumpers aren't environmental. Chrysler put the tape on the bumpers that caused this problem and they won't do a f*@kin' thing about it. I should have known from the brush-offs Chrysler gave my wife on her 86 Voyager mini-van problems to never buy another Chrysler product.
