Oil Gelation (Sludge) How Do You Get Rid of It?

Just picked up a 98 RAV4 4WD 4door and the first thing I did was get the oil and filter changed (Mobil 1 5W-30). After a few hundred miles the oil looked dark (a good sign), but I ran my finger into the oil fill and there was still some oil Gel. How does Toyota recommend one get rid of it?

Advertise it in the used car section of your local newspaper. :-)

Then buy a real car.

Er...why are you asking us in the Chrysler group?

yeah, what he said.

but anyway, might want to ask over at bobistheoilguy.com. A lot of people over there swear by a product called auto-rx, but I've never tried it. Personally, I'd keep doing what you're doing. Maybe instead of the Mobil 1 use a cheaper, Diesel-rated dino oil like Rotella at a shorter OCI to maximize the flushing action.

I was asking this here because people here are so much smarter.

(Actually, there was a thread here on this topic here and I posted the question without remembering this was a Chrysler group).
