Can a faulty coolant temp. sensor cause intermittent starting problems ?

it will cause a hard start problem, it acts as a choke for the system.. if the engine is cold and the sensor see's it is hot it will not allow a richer mixture to start the engine If the engine is hot and it see's a cold reading it could flood it out, if there is a fault for the sensor , fix it before doign any thing else.
