This is an update of a problem with my '02 Stratus I've had for some time.
At 15000 miles, I'm on my second set of Goodyear Eagle LS tires (205/60x16). The first set was replaced under warranty by my local Goodyear dealer (recommended by my local Dodge dealer) due to a pulling problem. The tires were originally diagnosed with radial pull since crossing the front tires side to side would send the pull the other way. This occurred even after a front-end alignment at the tire dealer.
Goodyear dealer is being very helpful, and after kicking the problem "upstairs," the company is willing to get me into either a set of Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires or a new Goodyear Eagle which is being introduced (all four tires replaced at no charge; my options are limited due to the size of the tire). In the meantime however, one of the dealer's tire reps says it's NOT the tires, but must be something screwy in the car; that the likelihood of having two complete sets of the same brand of tires making the car pull is highly unlikely, and that something in the car (struts, etc.) is out of whack and is making the tires drift, and I should go back to the dealer. I think that's bull-hooey; the shop said everything under the car seemed nice and tight. The vehicle has never been wrecked, and the wheels themselves are not the problem (it has the chrome OEM wheels) and the pressure is equal all around. Another mechanic I spoke with said he believed it was the tires, and related similar problems with other Goodyears tires in the past. And I can't see how even a problem with the car can cause the tires to handle like that right off the rack! (I had a similar problem with another car and some Uniroyals; no amount of alignment or rotation would make the car go straight. I traded up to some BF Goodrich Touring T/A's and that took care of it.)
Any thoughts as to whether it COULD be the car? I'd hate to put another set of shoes on the car and find out it does the same thing. Thanks for any input.
