Weird problem (1989 Chrysler New Yorker V-6)

Hi,

The weirdest thing has begun happening to my '89 New Yorker when I get it up to 55 mph and higher -- the car starts to really vibrate and shimmy pretty violently. Below 55 mph she handles prefectly.

Things really got bad on the highway today. As I was cruising at 55, a LOUD noise came from what sounded like the right side rear passenger side wheel well.

As I've mentioned she runs perfectly under 55 mph, but not above.

What could be causing this? Bearings? Shocks? Wheel? Tire? What?

Thanks for any ideas.

That is where the air compressor for the air leveling suspension is mounted.
