C5 Headlight Flicker

Have recently bought a C5 2.0 HDi Sallon



I have noticed that when drivng with the headlights on (auto) the headlights seem to dim just for an instant before returning to normal. The best way I can describe it is like a momentary "switching" of the lights. This happens once every few minutes... Is this normal or should it be cause for concern that the electrics are about to pack in? Thanks

Normal, according to gossip on the C5 Yahoo list. When the high-pressure hydraulic pump activates, it uses sufficient power to produce a pronounced flicker in the lights. On mine (2002 model), on rough country lanes at night it becomes almost stroboscopic...
