Burnell's, the Skoda maintenance place in Warrington has finally closed its doors. Does anybody know of an independent Skoda mechanic in this area? Gorners has far too much plate glass and polish for the likes of me! TIA
Unfortunatley, Burnells as a bunsiness has been gone for about 6 months or more. But the Mr Clutch franchise that was the workshop is still open. And I think I've seen some of the mechanics arround still.
I used to Love Burnells, they did all the work on my old Estelle and Favorit, and sold my missus her Fabia Classic. Unfortunatley they weren't so hot on the cooling system of Fabia, and their MrClutch brakes training only told them that Saab 900 turbo handbrakes were "A right pain in the arse to get right", and refused to swap the discs, pads calipers for me. So I did it myself, with brake fitting crawling on the ground taking two mornings, and handbrake setting taking about 1/2 an hour.
Try Mr Clutch anyway. They may still have the same Skoda apprenticed mechanics there. I agree about Gorners too. Very nice showroom, but it needs to be paid for some how. "Can I show you our fixed price servicing sir".
Sadly even as Mr Clutch the place has folded - as, according to the 'phone message, has the Birmingham branch. If one of their mechanics is now self-employed I'd like to know. John, where are you?
Odd? It changed hands about 8 weeks after the business shut. All the Burnells/Skoda/Perodua branding went, and a "For Sale/Too let" sign went up along with a bancruptcy notice in the local paper.
Since then, it re-opened with new signage and everything. And the gates get opened every morning, and closed every evening.
Bugger sorry mate. I could sworn everything was back open again. I'll have a look when I apss tonight.
I've bought some small parts from Gorners. They were pretty good. Not had any work done by them though. Missus is due a service in the Fabia, but she can't decide between them and the AA garage that did the last service.
