Some time in the early 90s in the YooEss, I took my key from the rental car counter and drove away in already unlocked car. The following morning at the hotel, I found that the key would not unlock the doors, and also that the rental company had been trying to get hold of me to tell me that I'd taken the wrong car in roughly the same time frame.

yes I know about the pink panther rovers.

I didn't think otherwise.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Gordon" saying something like:

Were the Navy ones Navy, I wonder?

Every Navy lorry and "Tilly" (Bedford Utilicon) I saw when I was living in a dockyard town were navy blue, so I imagine the cars were too.

And a 5.44:1 (IIRC) axle ratio which was useful for sprinting or hill-climbing anything with an A-series rear axle. There's probably still someone who used to work at BMC who is convinced that the GPO consumed an awful lot of crown wheels and pinions.
