TV last Monday

Hi all

I was working on my car and I missed last Mondays prog on the Land Speed Record Cars and the like on Channel 4. I've heard it was good and wondered if anyone taped it by any chance? If they did and would be prepared to do a copy for me can they email me please. All reasonable costs paid naturally.

I gather the Sunbeams were featured and thats the bit I'm really interested in this time. My Grandfather worked in the drawing office with his Uncle one Louis Coatalen. I'm wondering if they were captured on film.

TIA

Andy

Sorry, I didn't tape it, but is was fairly good (for Channel 4). Worth watching. They showed what appeared to be the dug up and restored Babs - at least it was modern film not archive footage like the rest. Don't know why they didn't say it was the actual car though, unless it wasn't. In which case, what was it?

It was. I remember a few years ago Babs was on display in a vacant shop unit in a covered precinct in Bangor. She was there for about a year, sitting forlornly behind a barrier of wire mesh. I wasn't aware of the full story at the time, so didn't fully appreciate what I was looking at. I understand the car is now on display in a hotel (?) at Pendine, hopefully in more respectful surroundings.

Babs was located and dug upin 1969 by Owen Wyn Owen. He restored the old girl back to running condition using a lots of the original bits. As can imagine a lot of bits were beyond saving after being buried on the beach. Babs still goes out on demonstration runs and I'm not sure who has Title to her.

Last I heard she spends part of the time in a museum at Pendine dedicated to Speed Events and part of the time out and about.

A search using Owen Wyn Owen and Babs as keywords brings up several sites that gives all the info.

Willy,

Babs is in the library, almost on the beach at Pendine.
