Zebrazone windscreen W.T.B.

Alex ( snipped-for-privacy@cbmsys.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

There's one being historic raced in this country this year - and they did well at rallying when they were current.

A very impressive rallying pedigree says otherwise. 20 class wins in 20 years in the RAC?

This is a serious enquiry regarding the screen. I am not mad and the crossplies will be junked before the car hits the road. What I have here is a 65000 mile 1966 car that I would like to keep original as possible. It does have a laminated screen at present but is clouding at the edges.

The problem I have is that modern replacement laminated screens available today are much thinner than the original laminated and toughened screens which were fitted back in 1966.

The replacement rubber seal available from Moss etc. is made for the thickness of screen of 40 years ago.

It does not take 'The Brain of Britain' to figure the rest.

Another, and maybe better option, would be sourcing an early laminated screen.

Anyone got one of those available?

Try the Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield. They used to have stacks of early Spitfire screens, which are the same as TR screens. See

To prevent disappointment, I suggest you call them first, then pay them a visit and pick a nice one yourself.

The same with cars. Now fitting a crossply to a 2003 Mazda 323 Sport is an entirely different matter! To a 1962 Mini with a 40hp 850 engine. That's no problem.

The message from Howard Rose contains these words:

ISTR that the Mini was only 34 bhp, the same as the 1200 Beetle.

My first (2nd hand and tatty) 105E Anglia came equiped with crossplies. Severe axle tramp was completely cured by fitting radials. Only 39bhp but with radials good enough to see off Minis.
