1980 c4 mods?

Well every thing has worked out very good with the 1980 we have in the shop for repairs ( turns out to be more like restoration and modification) the man that owns it came to pay his bill yesterday and was impressed and decided to leave it for another round of work, here is what has already been done to the car he has had some one else do the motor and paint and we have done the suspension all the way around and everything new on the brakes except for a couple of lines and the proportioning valve. the interior is next along with the air conditioner, gauges and a few other things. he is very impressed with the way the car runs, i how ever am not at all, who ever built this motor got the combination all wrong, runs pig rich and I doubt if it would make more than about 170 horse power at the rear wheels. he wants recommendations on a different transmission, and I suggested a six speed from the aftermarket, which I am sure we will do. I am trying to convince him that a DFI is the way to go with this car and I do have some limited experience with the Accell stand alone DFI, which is ok for one of my cars, but for a customers car I would rather some one be able to hook a scan tool up to it to get access to the data stream rather than go and try to find someone who is knowledgeable with a stand alone system and a lap top in case he has problems out on the road away from my shop. does any one have any experience with either six speed transmissions or converting, say a TPIS mini ram with a near stock (reprogrammed EPROM) ECU? into a older Corvette? I think with a modern DFI and a six speed he will have the best of both worlds, the styling he loves and good reliability and fuel economy. suggestions any one?

thanks Greg
