windshield and pillar rust repair Q

Mar 25, 2005 2 Replies

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice.

I removed the dash and windshield today, to find out the was a lott of rust on the windshield.

The area's that concern me the most are on the bottem corners left and right, just behind the tip of the fender and second : inside the door pillar where the rubber cushion of the body mount rests on.

How should I repair this ? Looks to be difficult.

Thanks for any advice.

difficult and it can be if you're not equipped to do the work or have access to someone that can.

Dad,

I saw the website, but I don't think the entire birdcage is this rotted out.

The side rails of the cage (where the pillars connect to) are ok as far as I can see from the underside. The only rott I can spot is the bottom plate which is closing off the pillar where it is welded to the siderails of the birdcage

The next two things are the upper and lower corners of the windshield. I have the restoration book here that gives an idea how to do it (cut away the top of the fenders ....) but have got some doubts here. Is it worthwile. The corners have some rusted through spots, but it is not completly rotted.

Thanks again
