Some more info about your car would help.... how many miles, when was the fuel filter last changed, any vacuum leaks, did you clear the codes to see if they would return?

If it were as easy as it sounds, I'd be out of work.

If the problem is due to bad O2 sensors, then yeah new O2 sensors will fix it. However, just because your engine is running lean, doesn't mean you need new O2 sensors. Go ahead and get the codes read from Autozone but do not let them diagnose the problem for you (they are far from qualified). The likely event is you'll end up wasting $110 on 2 O2 sensors (you have 4 by the way) and will still have the code. You need to do some further diagnostics to know why it is running lean. One of the most common reasons for the SOHC running lean is leaking lower intake manifold o-rings. Your warranty was extended to 6 years, 72K miles on them by Ford. If Ford verifies that your o-rings are leaking it won't cost you a dime. If the problem turns out to be something else though it could cost you quite a bit depending on how much time they spend diagnosing and what parts they have to replace. Another fairly common reason on the SOHC throwing lean codes is a bad MAF sensor. With only 60K on your O2 sensors, I would look at other reasons first. Every Auto parts store that I have been to recommends replacing them at 100K although I've seen about as many Mechanics that recommend replacing them every 60K. I got 91K out of mine on my '97 SOHC before it threw a code that was related to an O2 sensor. At 91K I went ahead and replaced all 4. I certainly wouldn't spend $250 for 4 with only 60K if there's a chance you can get another 2-3 years out of yours. You really need to do some more troubleshooting to properly find the problem which will involve the use of a fairly capable scan tool or taking it to a shop with competent mechanics.

Thanks. I also read on this thread about the leaking o-rings and mine is doing the same thing that I read about. Hard to start and keep running when it is cold then when it warms up everything is fine. Next stop the ford dealership thanks again,
