Hi everyone. Sometime ago I replaced the EGR and the DPFE on my 94 EB 4X4 Explorer. It is a V6 I think the one listed as having push rods....anyway I am noticing a noise coming from either the DPFE or the EGR Valve. I took a garden hose and used it like a stethascope to isolate the noise and if I remember correctly the noise seemed to be coming from the DPFE and not the EGR. The only way I can describe the noise....remember when you were a little kid and clipped playing cards on your spokes to make that shuttering type noise....well it sounds like that. The noise is not always present and I have noticed a performance decrease when the noise is present.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this symptom or has any input. The DPFE on my model cost over $100 and it would be nice if I found out something that would keep me from having to replace the DPFE again. I am 99.9 % sure I connected the exhaust lines correctly to the DPFE and I will be glad to be directed to a picture of someone elses which is installed correctly to use as reference and to have piece of mind in as far as the connections go in order to eliminate the thought that maybe I connected them incorrectly and that has caused some damage to the DPFE , etc.
