97 Explorer with 83K - Automatic Transmission Problem

Oct 06, 2003 0 Replies

Howdy,

When I first start driving my explorer cold, it runs fine. After it warms up, there is a roaring sound - I think from the transmission - only when decelerating (i.e., when the engine is slowing the car down, not the brakes). I can make the sound go away by shifting into neutral or by adding enough gas so the torque is "positive" (accelerating).

Is it time to take out a second mortgage, or might this be minor?

Bob
