A hot problem

Ok, it's not too much of a problem now that it's cold out, but this won't be fun in the summer. It seems the hot/cold control is stuck on hot. I can hear a clicking noise coming from the ductwork. I am assuming the blend door is stuck. Is is possible for something to get sucked up and cause this to stick? If so, how difficult is it to access this area. I was poking around today, and it sure doesn't seem like there are any easy ways to address this. If this involves removing the dash, I'll let a shop take care of it.

bah, guess I should give more info, sorry. That's what happens when you try to do to much at once.

Vehicle is a '97 Explorer XLT with most all goodies available for that model year. 5.0 AWD gas hog.

I have a 98 Explorer XLT and have the SAME problem. I was told it is the heater control valve. I have also read it involves removing the dash. I have called a dealer on this and asked WHERE is the HEATER CONTROL valve and the service advisor told me that it is in the engine compartment down low passenger side. I have yet to crawl under the thing to get a better look but am going to do it today FOR SURE. Also be thankful that you have heat! FYI: When you operate your A/C on max it will not be a problem as the control valve is rendered useless. Give a dealer a call it doesn't cost anything to get a question answered.
