BMW 320D cold starting problem ?

Oct 24, 2007 2 Replies

My 52 reg bmw 320d diesel is having problems starting on the cold mornings recently. The engine turns over fine, but will not fire. Later in the day, or evening it's fine, even if it's been standing all day.so it seems to be temperature related. Can anyone suggest any reasons for this happening that I can check myself or will I need to take it to a garage ? Do I need to find a diesel specialist or will a main dealer or bmw specialist be able to diagnose the problem ? Thanks Tony

probably one or more glow plugs has failed

Almost certainly glowplug related. Just about anywhere can replace them, but, be sure to buy proper specification ones. El Cheapo glowies fail very quickly.
