New Explorer-Inside of Door got wet

Aug 06, 2003 1 Replies

Hi all,

This is kind of a dumb question, but bear with me please. I recently bought a 2003 Explorer XLT, leather interior. Last night I left the driver side window halfway down and the inside of the door was wet (it rained last night). Some of the rain got into the up/down window switches and the window lock switch. They worked ok this morning however. Should this cause any problems to the switches or interior door? Just curious as I am anal about my new vehicle! Thanks in advance.

If water did go inside the switches I would expect problems to eventually happen. If you got the time and skills take the door panel apart and make sure everything is dry. You can also try and dry it with some compressed air without taking everything apart. The water will eventually dry but it might cause corrosion on the way.
