The vacuum cruise works great. SCS/Frigette is the brand, (they also build ford's aftermarket cruise) Price is about $140
beware of the audiovox cruise, they are subject to a safety recall.
I installed cruise control in my 1995 Escort LX last summer. I used OEM parts I obtained at a junkyard. You would never know that it didn't come with the car. And besides being really cheap, it was already had all the appropriate mounting places, mounting holes, and all the wiring necessary (except for one piece between the steering wheel slip ring assembly and the wiring harness, about 1 foot long). It also helps that I hav the service manual for the car.
The Spamming finally paid off! LOL
