How important are the torsion spring retainers on the rear spindle pinch bolts?

The manual says that these bolts are to be discarded when removed, which is a no-brainer since it appears that they tend to break where the smaller diameter threads meet the large nut.

They seem to be a dealer only item, but the parts guy at the nearest dealer (25mi away) says, "That's a special order and, uh, duh, you're going to have to come here and show me a picture of what you want."

WTF? What part of "rear spindle pinch bolts with torsion spring retainers" is so difficult to understand?

Anyway...how critical are these retainers? The torsion spring assembly forms an inverted "U" at the top, which fits inside of a receptacle on the air strut. The retainers mount on the spindle pinch bolt a few inches below. If the retainers aren't there, will it be a Real Bad Thing(TM)?

Thanks, in advance...
