my 2019 F-150 4×4

Well, I put my 2019 F-150 4×4 in the Ford shop yesterday and today they are putting a new engine in it. The old 3.5 Ecoboost engine is shot with 65K miles on it. They did give me a choice of $16,300 plus tax for an engine rebuild with new heads and assorted stuff with a 2 year Ford warranty. Or $16,600 plus tax for a long block with a three year Ford warranty which I chose after I picked myself up off the ground.

One or more of the four cam phasers came loose and spread itself around the engine in small pieces after beating the heads and cams to death. I could hear it on every startup. The timing chain was just about gone.

I would have sworn that Ford had a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty but apparently they reduced it to 60,000 miles or 5 years a few years ago. Now I know why.

I am demanding that Ford pay for the new engine or half but I doubt that they will do so. If they do not, this is my last Ford. I will buy a Toyota Tundra next time and bad mouth Ford all over the place. I will also file a event at the NHTSA vehicle safety for a possible future recall.

Lovely, just lovely.
